The project was presented at ISEKI-Food2026 through a joint contribution with EU4Advice on education and training challenges.
COREnet was presented at the 8th International ISEKI-Food Conference, ISEKI-Food2026, through the joint contribution “Education and training: challenges and new approaches”, delivered by Artur Gregório from In-Loco and Sofia Reis from the ISEKI-Food Association.
Taking place from 1–3 June 2026 in Faro, Portugal, ISEKI-Food2026 focused on “Innovation in Research and Education for the transition to sustainable food systems”, bringing together researchers, educators and professionals working on the future of food systems.
The presentation introduced the joint work of COREnet and EU4Advice in strengthening European advisory networks for sustainable short food supply chains. The contribution underlined the importance of supporting advisors as key actors who can help farmers, producers and local food initiatives navigate increasingly complex challenges.
A central message of the presentation was that short food supply chains require specific advisory competences. Advisors need to combine practical farming knowledge with expertise on markets, governance, regulation, territorial contexts and cooperation models. The presentation highlighted that different types of knowledge require different educational formats, including practical learning through field visits, co-creation and peer learning in living labs, structured dialogue through workshops and webinars, and knowledge codification through Golden Cases and formal training.
