SUPPORTING LOCAL FOOD SYSTEMS AND INNOVATION IN BIOEAST COUNTRIES: CONFERENCE AND POLICY WORKSHOP IN BUDAPEST

On December 4th, the EU4ADVICE, COREnet, and CLEVERFOOD Conference and Policy Workshop took place in Budapest, Hungary.

Titled “Supporting Local Food Systems and Innovation in BIOEAST Countries“, the conference was organized by COREnet and EU4ADVICE, with support from CLEVERFOOD, as a side event of the 2 days meeting Partnering for the Future: BIOEAST and beyond. The meeting was held in presence, and it was an opportunity to bring together experts from across Europe for insightful presentations and discussions on local food systems, short food supply chains (SFSCs), innovation, and policy regulations.

The conference featured contributions from various leaders in the field. Fedele Colantuono, COREnet project manager from the University of Foggia, shared valuable insights on “Golden Cases from Across Europe for SFSC Knowledge Sharing Systems”, while Patricia Mora McGinity, coordinator of the EU4ADVICE project, opened the conference with a presentation on “Lessons Learned from the Living Lab Concept from a Local Food Governance Perspective“.

Christian Jochum, from the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, also involved in the COREnet project, presented a session on “What Makes Short Food Chains a Success – Experiences from Austria“. Additionally, Katalin Kujani from COREnet and Adrienn Hegyi from EU4ADVICE had a policy roundtable on BIOEAST and Western European countries focused on “The local ecosystem pathway and innovation in the BIOEAST region”, together with two representatives from the CLEVERFOOD project.

Throughout the event all the COREnet and EU4ADVICE representatives actively contributed by presenting key features of their respective projects and discussing the main aspects of SFSCs that are vital for policymakers.
