CORENET EUROPEAN ROADSHOW IN IRELAND – LAND CITIZENSHIP: “RURAL WOMEN CULTIVATING GOOD FOOD FOR ALL”

The event is held in recognition of the International Day of Rural Women (15 October) and the UN International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026. An online broadcast covering the event’s closing day, 16 October, will be open for those who register.

Jointly led by the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) and Teagasc, and organised as a Roadshow for the COREnet Horizon Europe Advisory Network, the event marks the UNFAO International Day of the Woman Farmer during Ireland’s EU Presidency. It brings in related themes from COREnet’s sister project EU4Advice, the Agroecology Partnership project TEDY and the STEP-UP Horizon Europe project and includes a dedicated Learning Unit for EU-FARMBOOK.

The Roadshow brings together farmers, advisors, researchers, policymakers and rural organisations from across Europe for dialogue, knowledge exchange and collaboration on Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs) and the future of sustainable European agriculture. It showcases the leadership of women farmers in short food supply chains, agroecological transitions and sustainable production systems, while highlighting the role of advisory services, policy support and collaborative networks in enabling sustainable change.

Through field visits, multi-actor discussions, policy dialogue and an EU-FARMBOOK Learning Unit, the event connects local initiatives with European policy agendas, creating opportunities for peer learning and stronger networks among rural actors across Europe. Key themes include land stewardship, AKIS, cooperation, women farmers and leaders of SFSCs, and agroecology and food system transformation.

The live broadcast of the closing day in Galway on 16 October will be available online.
