CORENET STORIES: CONNECTING LOCAL FARMERS AND CONSUMERS THROUGH DIGITAL TOOLS

Just outside Kraków, local farmers are growing and processing fresh vegetables while finding new ways to bring their products directly to consumers.

From traditional market sales to customers visiting the farm, direct relationships remain an important part of their activity. But digital tools are also opening up new opportunities. In this new COREnet story, Kamila Gorzkowska, a local farmer from the Kraków area, shares her experience of growing, processing and selling vegetables directly to consumers.

One example is Mobilna Marchewka, an online platform that allows consumers to discover products from local farmers, place their orders online and have them delivered directly to their homes.

For producers, solutions like this can make it easier to reach customers beyond the farm or market stall, while maintaining the direct connection that lies at the heart of Short Food Supply Chains. For local communities, they can also provide a simple way to discover where their food comes from, connect with nearby producers and support local agriculture.

But what does this look like from the farmer’s perspective? And how can a digital platform change the way locally produced food reaches people in and around Kraków?
