CORENET STORIES: NAVIGATING INFORMATION OVERLOAD IN HUNGARIAN AGRICULTURE

How digital tools and trusted advisors help farmers make better decisions

Hungarian farmers today face a flood of information – a sharp contrast to 15–20 years ago, when they had to actively search for knowledge and grants. Now, updates, programs, and regulations arrive daily, often making it difficult to distinguish what truly matters.

As Zsuzsanna Varga, Group Leader at the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture, explains, “Farmers are overwhelmed not just by information, but also by the growing administrative burden”.

To support them, Hungary has introduced an official register of agricultural advisors. Every certified expert appears in this public database, which farmers can easily access through the Chamber’s website. The list provides contact details and areas of expertise, ensuring that farmers can connect with reliable, professional guidance tailored to their needs.

This system strengthens trust, transparency, and efficiency – helping farmers focus less on bureaucracy and more on what they do best: growing food.
