CORENET ADVANCES ADVISORY PRACTICES FOR THE ITALIAN COMMUNITY AT THE CREA CONFERENCE

Fedele Colantuono presents the EU short food supply chain network, highlighting collaborative efforts and key outcomes for the agrifood sector in Rome.

COREnet coordinator, Fedele Colantuono (University of Foggia) was invited to present the project during the event organised by CREA (Italian Research Center in Agricultural Economics), where results from the projects i2connect, Attractiss, modernAKIS and EUfarmbook were shared.

The event took place in Rome on October 28-29 and was coordinated by Patrizia Proietti and Simona Cristiano, researchers at CREA. They are actively engaged in the aforementioned Horizon-funded initiatives, focusing on advisory services in the agrifood sector and fostering interactive co-creation, training, networking, and transnational peer-to-peer learning at the EU level.

COREnet was invited to discuss its objectives and preliminary findings regarding the EU network of short food supply chain (SFSC) advisors, particularly highlighting the outcomes and benefits for Italian supply chains. Most attendees included formal and informal advisors, as well as representatives from managing authorities across various regions.

Throughout the two-day event, Patrizia and Simona facilitated presentations, discussions, and working groups aimed at understanding participants’ perceptions and the applicability of project results to their needs. The goal was to establish an Italian community of practice for advisory services, enabling the sharing and practical application of Horizon project outcomes.

Additionally, Luca Colombo from FIRAB presented the Organic Advice Network, another Horizon EU project focused on creating a thematic network of advisors in organic farming.

This meeting provided an invaluable opportunity for national advisors and policymakers to identify training gaps, promote collaboration, and establish meaningful connections within the SFSC advisory network. COREnet is pleased to have participated in this event and looks forward to continuing its work while applying the knowledge gained to enhance the effectiveness of the SFSC advisory network.
